Smuggling is how you turn cheap goods into serious money. You load cargo, move it between cities and countries, and collect a payout that grows with the risk of the product. It is the closest thing MafiaKill has to a logistics business — and with the right trucks it runs almost like clockwork.
There are six cargo types in the game, from a weed run that barely ever fails to a meth shipment where you gamble on a 20% success rate for a huge multiplier. Understanding which cargo to run, when, and in which vehicle, is the difference between steady income and a burned-out smuggler.
The Six Cargo Types
Smuggling is organised around six cargos, each harder and more valuable than the last. Weed is the entry point, unlocks at level 1 and succeeds 60% of the time for 10 XP. From there you climb through Beer (level 2, 50%, 20 XP), Pills (level 4, 40%, 30 XP), Whiskey (level 6, 35%, 40 XP) and Cocaine (level 8, 30%, 50 XP) up to Meth at level 10 — a 20% success chance that pays 60 XP.
The payout multiplier climbs with each tier too, from Beer at ×4 all the way up to Meth at ×15. In other words, the safest cargos pay the least and the riskiest pay a fortune — which is exactly why balancing your cargo choice against your vehicle and your luck is the whole smuggling skill.
| Cargo | Unlock Level | Success | XP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weed | 1 | 60% | 10 |
| Beer | 2 | 50% | 20 |
| Pills | 4 | 40% | 30 |
| Whiskey | 6 | 35% | 40 |
| Cocaine | 8 | 30% | 50 |
| Meth | 10 | 20% | 60 |
Pro Tips
- Weed and Beer are your income foundation until your vehicles and wallet can absorb losses.
- Whiskey and Cocaine are the sweet spot — decent odds with a serious multiplier.
- Meth is a lottery ticket, not a business; run it when you can absorb a streak of failures.
How a Smuggling Run Works
A smuggling run works like a job with a timer. You pick a cargo, load it into your vehicle, and move it along the route between cities or countries. If the run succeeds you collect the payout and the XP; if it fails you lose the cargo and the time.
After every run there is a roughly 10 minute cooldown before you can smuggle again. That cooldown turns smuggling into a rhythm rather than a burst — check in, send a run, do a crime or two, come back, send another. Players who stack their runs around the cooldown make smuggling a constant trickle of income.
- Choose your cargo and check the success chance before you commit.
- Load it into a vehicle with enough smuggle capacity for the trip.
- Send the run and wait for the outcome — win the payout, or lose the cargo.
- Wait out the ~10 minute cooldown, then pick the next cargo.
Pro Tips
- Set a mental timer for the cooldown — every idle minute is a run you are not earning.
- Run a low-risk cargo when you are about to leave the game; you do not want to log off mid-gamble.
- Never send your last cargo run on a high-risk product you cannot afford to lose.
Vehicles and Capacity
Your vehicle's smuggle rating decides how much cargo it can carry per run, and it matters far more than how flashy the ride looks. A truck with a high smuggle rating moves vastly more product per trip than an exotic sports car, which is why the serious smugglers all own a transport fleet.
Trucks and buses with high capacity are the backbone of the system. The table below shows the classic progression — a cargo van is a fine mid-game workhorse, but the heavy trucks are where the real volume (and real profit) lives.
| Vehicle | Smuggle Capacity | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Ford Model TT Bus | 35 | Cheap crew + light cargo |
| Chevrolet Suburban | 70 | Early smuggling runs |
| Cargo Van | 180 | Mid-tier volume |
| Truck Large | 500 | Serious cross-country hauls |
| Armoured Presidential | 800 | Maximum capacity, maximum cost |
Pro Tips
- Check smuggle rating before you sell any car — you may be looking at a hidden income machine.
- One high-capacity truck beats three vans for route efficiency.
- Keep a cheap, high-seat vehicle around for the cargo that does not need big capacity.
Smuggling Strategy
The best smugglers do not chase the biggest cargo every time — they build a route economy. Cheap cargos keep your cooldown earning with near-zero risk; expensive cargos are the bonus bets you take when your bankroll and your nerve allow it.
XP is a reason to smuggle on its own. Each run pays between 10 and 60 XP regardless of payout, so even low-tier cargos are a fast, safe way to level while your crime cooldowns tick. Combine that with a gang smuggling port and your modest runs quietly become one of the most reliable income streams in the game.
Pro Tips
- Alternate cargo tiers: run safe product to bank profit, then gamble one high-tier run.
- Use higher-XP cargos during XP events to turbo-level your character.
- Upgrade your transport fleet before you climb to Whiskey and above — capacity is your multiplier.
Pro Tips
- 1.The ~10 minute cooldown is your rhythm — build your whole play session around smuggling runs.
- 2.Match cargo risk to your bankroll: never risk cash you need for weapons or training.
- 3.Higher cargos pay multipliers from Beer's ×4 up to Meth's ×15 — know which one you are really running.
- 4.Trucks and buses with big smuggle ratings beat sports cars for income every single time.
- 5.Smuggling XP stacks with your crime grind — it is one of the cheapest ways to level early.
