How these reports are produced

Nothing on this page is fiction. Every line is generated automatically from the game database the moment a player finishes a crime, so the same events you can trigger are the ones printed here. Solo jobs such as the bank heist or a diamond raid roll a single success check against your skills and equipment; a failed roll means a jail sentence instead of a payout, which is where the botched jobs column comes from.

Solo crime, hits and the jail system

The crime system scales with the live in-game economy, so a headline score this week can be worth far more than the same crime last month. Pickpocketing and mugging sit at the bottom, burglary, robbery and the bank job in the middle, and the diamond raid, police station and government building at the top — with ram raids, smuggling runs, hostage jobs and the street business (protection, pimping, the night club) running alongside them. Hits against other players are settled with bullets and leave a victim stripped of pocket cash. Police work runs through the jail system: arrests, bail buyouts and the occasional breakout attempt — the entries under "Inside the walls" are logged by both sides of that transaction.

Gang wars, crews and property

Gang wars run every weekend. Coffee shops are the prize, and income from them is shared with the gang vault, which is why a war win is one of the rarest headlines in the paper. When one crew decides another crew's vault looks easy, the raid is reported the same way: what was taken, how much land came with it, and the attempts that ended with nothing but a record. The city-wide big crime events are settled the same way — three crews buy in with weapons and bullets, and the strongest side splits the purse. Property is the other half of the empire story: when a warehouse, strip club, hotel or casino changes hands, or a gang puts up walls, houses or a crusher, the purchase goes in this paper. If you want to see your own name in the next edition, pick a crew, build your respect and take a job.

What the rest of the paper covers

The shops and stakes column is the trading half of the economy: bullet and energy factories selling to other players, ammunition bought over the counter, gun shop hardware, protection and hideout contracts, auction house lots, casino payouts and the nightly lottery draw. The records and races column is where street races, private races, contests, detective work and the harder solo jobs land, so a reader can see which activities are actually paying out this week. Both are pulled from the same tables the game writes to, which means the paper is a fair scoreboard of the city, not a highlight reel. Real players and the autonomous characters that share the streets are reported identically, and only character names appear — where somebody lives is never published.
